Charles Flachs

Charles Flachs - Music for BalletCharles Flachs is a professor of ballet at Mount Holyoke College where he teaches all levels of ballet technique, pointe, pas de deux, repertory and dance history. Charles is the recipient of a choreographic fellowship from the Ohio Arts Council, and has choreographed for the Cincinnati Ballet Company, the Five-College Dance Department, Columbia College, University of Georgia Athens, Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet and for the bronze medal winner of the 1992 Varna lnternational Ballet Competition. He has guest taught for the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet, the Southeast Regional Ballet Association, the American College Dance Festival and Zurich Ballet, Switzerland. As a principal dancer he performed with Nashville Ballet, Louisville Ballet, Ballet West and Cincinnati Ballet. His repertoire included principal roles in Swan Lake, Giselle, Cinderella and Coppelia as well as ballets by Peter Anastos, John Butler, James Canfield, Val Caniparoli and Michael Smuin. Charles and his wife and colleague Rose Marie Wurzer, are founding members of the CORPS de Ballet International Inc., an organization devoted to the development of ballet in higher education.

Susanne Anderson

Susanne Anderson - Music for BalletSusanne Anderson An Ohio native, Susanne began piano studies at the age of five and was inspired on to a degree and a career involving many facets of music including performing, teaching and composing. For 28 years she has played for the ballet – from private schools to professional dance companies in the United States and abroad. In addition Ms. Anderson is an accomplished singer and performs with local opera companies. In that venue she has worked with such notable conductors as Leonard Bernstein, Robert Shaw and Sarah Caldwell. She teaches private piano and voice lessons and directs several area choirs. Susanne is an active member of the International Guild of Musicians in Dance. She intends this recording to be used when a live musician is not available.

Lada Isupova

Lada Isupova - Music for BalletLada Isupova A Moscow native, began violin studies at the age 5. Her piano studies began later with her mother, a music and dance teacher. At age 17 she became serious about piano, graduating from the Moscow Pedagogical University She continued on at the Moscow Pedagogical University and the Moscow Pedagogical College as an accompanist for voice, violin, and dance classes. She also taught music classes, and courses on the aesthetic methods of teaching music. Lada performed in Italy and Germany and was the founder of “Russian Music and Dance Class” for children in the Amherst Massachusetts.
